R. D. Rapp, 45, died on July 21, 1993, at Southwest Medical Center, Liberal, KS.

He was born October 19, 1947 at Enid, OK, the son of Ralph J. and Betty Jean Hill Rapp.  He was a Larned resident since 1959.  He was a production foreman for Abercombie Inc. of Great Bend.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the American Legion, both of Larned and a U.S. Navy veteran.

On October 7, 1967 he married Mary Hazel Callahan at Larned.  She survives.

Other survivors include:  two daughters, Kerry Schmidt and Cheryl Rapp, both of Larned; his mother, Betty Jean Hein of Blue Eye, MO; a brother, Charles Rapp of Salina; a sister, Constance Gabbert of Cape Fair, MO; and two grandchildren, Jacob Alan Rapp and Kayla Jaynae Schmidt, both of Larned.

The funeral will be at 11:00 AM Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Larned, with the Rev. William E. Brazil and Father Charles Mazouch presiding.

Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery.


Liberal—R.D. Rapp, a 45 year old Larned man, died from electrocution when he used a plastic pipe to lift a electrical wires Wednesday afternoon.  Rapp was helping move an oil pump rig that would not clear some electrical lines.

 According to Seward County Medical Services personnel it is possible that 7600 volts in the wire could have traveled through the pole.

 Mr. Rapp was taken to the Southwest Medical Center in Liberal where he was pronounced dead.

 Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday July 23 at the First Methodist Church in Larned.
